Kuala Lumpur, April 15 — In order to offer best value in air travel, Malaysia Airlines has launched its “MAS Stimulus Package” today which has nine deals covering first, business and economy class travel.
It’s for domestic, Asean and international travel.
The deals include gems like matching previous fares paid to other airlines on same international routes; east-west Malaysia travel for only RM99; and pay economy to travel business class options.
The airline’s chief executive officer Datuk Seri Idris Jala said, “This is the best time for the public to travel as such incredible offers are given only during a downturn! Customers are the ones to truly benefit during this time as we are looking for innovative ways to boost load factors and revenue.
“Never waste a good crisis. While we cannot control the operating environment, we can control the way we run our business. These deals have been tailored to meet what the customers want and stimulate travel demand.
“Based on the public’s support to us during our travel promotions, we can see that if they are given a choice to fly with us, they will definitely do so as we offer the best value for their money.”
Two of the nine deals on offer, Grab-A- Deal and Balik Kampung have already been offer since March.
“In just slightly over a month, sales for Grab-A- Deal and Balik Kampung have hit more than RM17.5 million – RM12 million for Grab-A- Deal, and more than RM5.5 million for Balik Kampung. That’s incredible considering the economic situation we are in. This shows that if you give the public what they want — they will travel,” Jala said.
The other deals in the “MAS stimulus package” launched today are Premium Match, Business Companion, Economy +, Weekend Getaway, Kids Fly Free, MHFlex 1+1 and 80 per cent discount domestic/Asean.

Moreton Bay is a large bay on the eastern coast of Australia 19 km from Brisbane, Queensland. The waters of Moreton Bay are a popular destination for recreational anglers and are used by commercial operators who provide seafood to market.
These two pictures are given to me by Soba. Seng, Henry and Soba went to Moreton Bay in 2007. Every year, our university organizes a trip to Tangalooma Island in Moreton Bay. I missed out the two chances when i was in my overseas uni life.
As a first year student, i'm quite worry about the fees so i did not join those 'high expenditure' trip. I heard that there are many attractions and activities you can do in Tangalooma. For example, kayaking, snorkeling , watch and feed wild dolphin (my favourite) , sand tobogganing, quad bike tour... Some of the activities are free or included in the package but you still have to pay for most of the activities. Otherwise, it is nothing to do by sitting on the beach.
For the second time i heard there is a Tangalooma trip organized by univeristy was during the orientation week in 2007. They said all mentors can get an offer from student service. It was a good chance to me because i already joint the international mentor program. However, at that time i have to prepared myself for the backpak with kimkim. Ends up, I can only view the beatiful scenery through pictures that caputred by my friends who have been to Moreton Bay.
Today, I am quite depressed to heard this news... Oil Spill: QLD beaches declared disaster zones. Worry about those dolphins and marines life. The oil affected area is basically where they live.
A container pierced the Pacific Adventurer's hull in rough seas on Wednesday, causing the leak which has spread to 60 kilometres of Queensland's coastline.
Moreton and Bribie Island and southern parts of the Sunshine Coast have been declared disaster zones.

This commercialize ads from Air Asia announced that passengers can pick their own seat. Add RM5 (standard seat) and RM25 (Hot seat). In the ads, the couple just seated few seats apart in the same flight but looks like apart far away. lolz

3 of my friends from Toowoomba just went to cairns last month. When i view their photos in friendster and facebook, i think they really enjoy their trip for scuba diving.Queensland is a paradise for people who likes sea. Anyway, for those who likes swimming and diving under the sea, really have to be aware of jelly fish.

Q: We are traveling to Australia in November and want to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. Some guidebooks say it's impossible to snorkel at that time of year because of the abundance of deadly stinging jellyfish, while others say you can snorkel anytime without a problem. Are there any jellyfish-free areas in the reef for snorkeling at that time of year?
A: Researching this question has given us a healthy respect for the box (chironex) and the Irukandji, two types of dangerous jellyfish (a.k.a. marine stingers) that ply the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef, particularly between the warm months of November to May and June. Dangerous, as in potentially lethal. The box jelly is generally considered the world's most dangerous animal. According to Marine Stingers, a Web site run by the Queensland, Australia, government, death from a box jellyfish sting typically occurs within two to five minutes. Exact mortality rates aren't known, but it's thought that the box jelly is responsible for at least one death a year in Australian waters.
But that doesn't mean you can't snorkel. There are a few precautions you can take to minimize the risks:
-- Wear a "stinger suit" (a full-body Lycra wetsuit) whenever you're in the water. They're available for rent from marine tour operators and outfitters. Remember, though, that while the suits offer some protection, they are not stinger-proof.
-- Carry vinegar with you (see below).
-- Swim at a patrolled beach. Look for and obey safety signs.
-- If possible, swim in areas enclosed by a stinger net.
-- Enter the water slowly. This gives stingers time to move away.
-- Don't touch jellyfish washed up on the beach. They can still sting you.
If you're stung, douse the site of the sting with vinegar (urine or seawater as a last resort, but never fresh water). Note that it may take as long as 40 minutes for a reaction to occur, so it's important to monitor the victim in a safe location out of the water. I have a very strong feeling on "I am Malaysian" and " I am proud to be a Malaysian" after my first vacation to Sydney last year. I depart from Brisbane International Airport to Sydney International Airport on May 2007. On that time, there first launched an International Airport's restriction which all liquid forms in hand luggage must not larger than one litre and have to be carried in a re-sealable transparent plastic bag. This bag have to be inspected separately at the airport screening point. I brings my own water container from home just in case I want to refill it when I arrive my destination. Well, there is no exceptions for carrying drinks on board so I pour away the water before checking in.
Before entering the boarding room, a little incidents happened at the final screening point. The security staff want to throw away the water container from my hand luggage. I stop him for claiming that it was an empty water container. Without saying any word, he putted it down and leave it to me. I was pleased that he understand me (as you know...'Aussie'...do not try to argue with Aussie if you are not good in English or well study in Law).
However, the story have not end. When I claiming my things and try to squeeze it back to the original space in the luggage, two security staffs approached me. A madam asked 'Are you Chinese? ' Without any scruple, I answer quickly 'YES' Then the other security staff take away my hand luggage and this madam urged me to follow them to the security area. At the moment, I was so blur and do not know what is going wrong with me. I not even know who are they until I followed them to the security area and I look at them , a middle age woman and a younger age man in Airport security staff's uniform.
The madam pass over a card to me and asked me to choose a language which I familiar with to read it out. I looked at the card, the contents are written in 3 languages. First is English , then Mandarin and the text at the bottom looks like Arabic which I totaly do not understand. I believe the message are same, no matter in which language so I just read the first paragraph which is in English. Oh NO! I was being suspected that carrying dangerous goods ... I stopped reading the whole paragraph and jump to the last sentence where I have to declare to them I understand what are written on it. The madam use a scanner reader to scan around my body from head to the feet while her partner check my hand luggage and flip over my passport. After awhile, he said to the madam, 'She is carrying Malaysia passport' . Suddenly , I noticed that I said something wrongly earlier, I was so panic and try to clarify that I was innocent for telling them 'Yes, I am Malaysian!' Two of them looked at me then return the luggage and my boarding documents. When letting me out of the security area, the madam greet me to have Nice journey. GOSH! What's a thrilling begining of this trip.
From that day onwards, I had learnt a good lesson in my life. Based on the Malaysia's formal education, we introduce ourself by mentioning our race 'Malay' , 'Chinese' , 'India' , 'Bumiputera' and etc. This kind of classification is just understandable within the citizen in Malaysia. In fatcs, we all are Malaysian! If you are telling a foreigner you are 'Chinese' that means you are from the country Republic of China! But not me ! I am born in Malaysia ! I grow up in Malaysia ! My nationality stated on passport is Malaysia! I am Malaysian!
Recently, there is a hit topic surrounded an uncle where he refer Malaysian Chinese as 'Pendatang' and 'Penumpang'. Whats a shame that he pull himself back to 14th centuries and talk about the grandfather-father-son story while everyone around the world are moving forward. It was a bad moment to have foreigner suspect on you when you are innocent but they won't hurt you before you are proven guilty. However, it was painful that you are not acknowledged by the member in your own country. Some of the people just like to play around on racist issues without concerning on the feeling of others. Are they educated? Do they watch their language as they are a politician or a well known person in a country. Eventhough a 4 years old kid is given education for learning how to speak politely. Why not an adult watch their language? Whats a shame to have such nonsense in my country!
There are Manglish, Singlish and Chinglish which are all driven from mandarin. When it has been a long time you didn't meet someone, you might said 'long time no see' （很久不见）. If you went to a shopping central in Saturday which is crowded , you might heard someone saying 'people mountain people sea' (人山人海)

MELBOURNE, May 4 (Bernama) -- Several suspicious cardboxes found on a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) aircraft when it landed at the Perth International Airport Saturday night forced the evacuation of thousands of passengers and staff.
The terminal was shut down for almost 12 hours from 6pm Saturday after baggage handlers noticed the packages on the incoming MAS flight MH125 from Kuala Lumpur, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.
The packages, believe to contain artificial flowers, were eventually x-rayed by the bomb squad and found to contain nothing dangerous, but not before eight international flights were either cancelled, diverted or delayed.
Perth Airport chief executive Brad Geatches told AAP it took about 20 minutes to evacuate about 3,000 passengers and staff to an exclusion zone 2km from the airport buildings.
Police also had to hold back thousands more people arriving at the airport to board flights or collect friends and loved ones.
Assistant commissioner of counter-terrorism and state protection John McRoberts said today it was one of the biggest security operations at Perth Airport involving about 100 officers.
"It's certainly the most significant event I know at the Perth Airport," he was quoted by AAP as saying.
"It was a major operation, it was an operation that caused ... considerable inconvenience to the travelling public, to the staff at the airport, to government agencies that responded, and that's regrettable.
"But I think people ought to take some comfort in the fact that the safety of everybody was of paramount concern to us," he said.
McRoberts would not explain what alerted police to the unaccompanied freight, but said they were part of a consignment destined for someone in Perth. That person was spoken to by police last night and the story checked out with what police found when the boxes were x-rayed at a safe site on the airport grounds.
Police refused to say what was in the packages, fearing copycat events.
The airport was evacuated one hour after the packages were identified, but due to unexplained delays in the operations, it took another nine hours before they were x-rayed.
Perth International Airport was reopened at 5.30am local time, with possible delays expected over the next two days.
Meanwhile in KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia Airlines Cargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) in a statement Sunday said the cargo consignment on flight MH125/3 May 2008 to Perth had fully undergone all stringent regulatory and safety requirements of IATA, US Customs, US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and other relevant authorities.
The shipment was thoroughly examined and put through the x-ray screening machine, where no suspicious contents were detected, and placed in the secure part of the warehouse for 24 hours before it was flown to Perth.
"We do not take safety and security lightly at MASkargo. Our standard of operations clearly emphasises strict adherence to rules and regulations imposed by all relevant authorities and we observe these requirements without fail at all times," MASkargo managing director Shahari Sulaiman said in the statement.
